Vision

About Riotgear Comics: VISION

Our Distribution

Riotgear comics will launch as an independent comic book publisher who's primary audience will be Christian comic book fans accessible from the internet.

However, we will explore distribution, with the goals of A) getting nation-wide distribution in comic book shops by Diamond Distributing, and B) getting nation-wide distribution in Christian book stores by Family Christian Bookstores.

Riotgear comics will pursue advertising in HM magazine, RELEVANT magazine, and Wizard magazine as funds allow, as well as advertising in distributor's catalogs.

Our Art

We will work first towards building a library of self-contained work that can be published as graphic novels. We will introduce these books in multiple 24-32 page comic books then publish them as a complete work when finished. Eventually, when our resources are high enough, we will look into monthly periodical publishing of stories that have no defined ending.

We will explore a variety of genres and art styles, with a particular focus on manga's increasing popularity as a medium. We will avoid the superhero genre until we have the talent to both compete with the large companies that produce this material, and do so in a way that is more meaningful than escapist fiction.

We will actively decide to portray the female body in a way that does not objectify it. We will actively decide to portray the female body in a way that is encouraging to female readers.

Our Artists

Riotgear comics will actively seek to work with Christian artists and writers, and will also actively seek to work with non-Christian artists and writers.

Our Audience

We will aim for 25% of our work to be intended for a non-Christian audience, 25% for a primarily Christian audience, and half of our work to be deeply meaningful to both groups.

We will work to engage non-typical comic book audiences. First and foremost we will work to invite girls and young women to read our work. Secondly we will work to target a broader and older audience with what we put out. However, we will make sure to take care of the adolescent male population that makes producing comic books possible, and not alienate them in this process.
